I am currently a patient and I wish I would have known then what I know now I would have chosen a different facility. This is been a horrible 3 days of my life that I will never get back. The language barrier is ridiculous along with the nurses attitudes & would not send my worst enemy to this hospital & the wound care is a joke my 13 y/o can do what they did with both eyes closed & her hands tied behind her back.. I hope you are picking up what I am putting down. People please do your research & homework and do what I should have done or ask a family member to take a tour before you choose Lifecare Hospital Of Plano because this dump sucks!!!

Don't expect it to be like the "hospital" that you came from or a resort. It is the best LTAC in Collin County. While a lot of upper management seems to have issues that aren't suitable for public consumption, mixed audiences, and/or print here, it's a place not unlike most. There are good people that work here. There are also young, inexperienced people that are here. Whatever their reason, everyone seems to have one for working at LifeCare and they bring something special if you take the time to get to know them.

We had a good experience at Lifecare Plano. It took us a day to understand that we weren't in ICU anymore but the response time was really good. The respiratory team was great, all of them. They were quick, knowledgeable and very helpful, and my husband was there for respiratory reasons. 80% of the nurses were also very good, which is probably above the normal average. The doctors were available easily, and quick to call in another specialist if the problem was not in their expertise. The physical therapist were also good. The caseworker was rude and didn't respond but I just asked others and got good responses from them. Our overall experience was good and the respiratory therapist were top notch.

Bottom line if you are admitted here you will get good care if you or your loved ones are very involved in managing your case.

My dad was here for a little over a month and is being transferred today to a rehab facility. Several of the nurses and all of the techs that were assigned to him were very polite and so good to him (he was a little cranky at times).

Avoid this hospital at all costs! They ignore alarms and call lights and let IV pumps beep for hours. They also didn’t catch that my mother was going septic until I alerted them and insisted that they intervene; by that time she had almost died. Their management also isn’t very professional. You would think they are dressed to work as cocktail waitresses instead of hospital administration. Additionally, the rooms are not very nice and they don’t have an actual ICU. It’s not at all what I expected.

I found we had to be very involved the management of his medicines, the food (he could not swallow so it had to be soft... they would give him toast (not soft)); seems like his chart was not followed or updated. He was having loose stools and they would give him a laxative - even after we had the doctor note it on his chart. Those kinds of errors were frustrating especially since he was so dehydrated already!

On a positive note, any time there was an issue the case manager took care of it. In fact, she is the reason we kept him there so long, Kenda is amazing!
