My first time experience at the Studio Movie Grill in Plano was ruined by the fact that they apparently forgot that I ordered food. My date and I ordered just a few minutes before the movie began. My date was served her meal promptly , nothing for me apparently though. I called up the waiter twice by pressing the service button, he explained both times that the meal would be ready "any minute". After no apparent progress, I left the theater to talk to someone about it and I was assured that they re-submitted the order. I finally was served my meal an hour and a half after the movie started. To their credit, they did not charge for me for the meal, but the entire experience was ruined! Don't come here with an empty stomach!
The final straw was the volume of the movie. It was so loud, myself and a couple of people around me sat with our ears covered. We did ask our server to see about turning the volume down. She said she would ask but nothing changed.
The service was good . When ordering a few minutes later not even five minutes our drink and app was brought. It was our first time being there and the experience was great and would come back. My husband loved it the drinks food movie and all.
We sat towards the front so we could enjoy the reclining seats. The chair I had was dirty. I wiped it off myself. The table top was wet with I hope was water. Someone was in one of our seats and had no intention of moving. I went back out to the box office and got back in line to change seats. At the same time I finally made it to the ticket counter, the staff announced they had to switch around for different jobs. I had to wait for the staff switch cash drawers. I went back into the theater with new tickets 20 minutes later.
Dinner and a movie what else could you ask for? Drinks are good, food selection includes movie classics like popcorn and grill options like burgers and pasta. My wife got fish and chips, kid got chicken strips, I had popcorn and beer. Great family night.
One of my favorite movie theaters based on location, convenience and the food and drink offering. Would really be a great place if the quality of the food would improve and stay consistent. It's currently quite the hit miss affair.
Usually have no issues here. Tonight, however, was totally different. We arrived an hour early so we sat near the bar and had dinner. It took about 10 minutes for our server to take our order. When the food finally arrived, my coconut chicken strips and fries weren't even close to warm. My friend's burger and fries were hot. Mine had apparently been sitting out for quiet a while. The chicken was chewy and had no taste. It took almost 45 minutes to get our food.
I'm disappointed in SMG. I'm not sure I'll be back.
